Purpose – Privacy Policy
The purpose of this privacy policy statement is to advise you of the information collected when you use our services. This document should be read in conjunction with the Terms of Service Policy. This policy applies between Craig Birrell (and any registered business names) (here after CB) and yourself.

Website Usage
Your privacy is respected. When you use our web sites, certain information is collected for the purposes of providing the service to you. Unless our web sites asks for specific personal information in order to respond to a request for information or to use the services (as in registration for a service), only the following information will be collected when using our websites -

* the address of the internet server where you have connected to the internet
* the top level domain name (such as .com; .au; .uk)
* the pages you access and the document download from our sites
* the previous site you visited, in arriving at our site
* the type of browser you are using and the type of operating system you use (eg; Windows 2000 or Linux)

This information is collected for statistical purpose and to gain an indication of the areas of our website that users visit. The details collected as described above can not identify who you are.

Cookies – the software used to power our sites, may use cookies to assist with your logging on and navigation. Use of External Links, we can not be responsible for the actions of other parties when you visit their sites from a link on our websites.

When you participate in forums or discussions lists, please remember that the information you provide in these forums will be seen by others. If the site is password protected it will be other persons engaging our services, if it is a public forum, it will be seen by anyone using the internet.

If you do provide personal information when using our sites, such as your name, this information is handled as stated below.

Your information is not sold or disclosed to any third parties unless required to do so by law. Personal information provided by the web or other web details provided on our learning centre is treated confidentially, the same as if the information was provided in person. However we are unable to internet security – users should be aware that there are inherent risks in transmitting information over the web.

Consultations (online (by forum or email), face to face or in writing)
A number of the services provided by CB maybe regulated by Privacy legislation and subject to ethical standards of professional organisations. We would like you to know how we handle your personal information.

In dealing with us you may provide personal information to enable us to provide services to you, such information will include -

* name, address, telephone, email and addresses details
* factors about education to allow us to assist with vocational development
* emergency contact information

Third Party

* Statistical information may be gathered from the information supplied to assist government agencies. this occurs when you enrol for a vocational training program (such as a Certificate or Diploma course).
A copy of your enrolment form is provided to our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to all for the issuing of a qualification of statement of attainment.

* Participating in a Registered Traineeship, certain information is required to be provided to the Department of Education and Training, this is your name and place of employment. In some situations it may also include your phone number and home address.

* If a third party is paying for your vocational training, this is usually your employer, they will be kept informed of your progress through out the duration of the program, this is to ensure that the party is able to effectively support you.

* Completed assessment are sent to the RTO for auditing and storage.

* In relation to coaching or counselling (career and general), your personal information and information relating to your health will not be disclosed to a third party, unless there is sufficient reason to believe that you may harm yourself or someone else. Prior to disclosing this information to a third party we will attempt to contact you and discuss this with you.

* If a third party is paying for your coaching or counselling (career and general), information relating to the how they can support you may need to be past to the third party, this will be discussed with you prior to the information being passed.

* Consultants may be engaged or others from time to time to undertake the provision of services on our behalf or to perform clerical services, those parties may require access to your personal information to enable the provision services to you. Such parties are bound by this policy.

Storage

* Your personal information is secured regardless of it being held electronically or in paper form at our office, backups are password protected. In the event that you may for some reason lodge a complaint about our services to another party, we may then need to release your personal information – if was to arise we will advise you.

* Computers and storage facilities are fitted with password protection and locks to assist in the protection of your details.

* We rent internet hosting space, we are unable to guarantee the security of such information.

General

* We takes reasonable steps to ensure that personal information held is relevant, not excessive, accurate, up to date, complete and that the collection does not unreasonably intrude on the personal affairs of individuals.

* Retain personal information for no longer than is necessary and then dispose of it lawfully and securely.

* We will not disclose your personal information to a party that is not authorised to receive such information.

Purpose – Confidentiality Policy
Confidentiality is taken very seriously in the course of our work. As we provide a range of developmental services, we must meet the standard set for our industry, which is career and personal development.

All communications in a counselling session are treated as confidential between yourself and the consultant, this will only be broken if there is reason to consider you may harm yourself or someone else, in such situations we will attempt to contact you in advance.

Private communications with vocational training clients is treated confidentially. Communications and comments arising in vocational training session are respected, if the information needs to be passed on to another party to enable the effectively supply of services to you, we will attempt to do this without identifying the originator.

Ethical standards as directed by relevant professional organisations are followed -

Code of Conduct
This practice is based on ethical practice. Craig Birrell is a member of the Queensland Counsellors Association (QCA), and the Australian Association of Career Counsellors (AACC) both organisations require members to maintain specific ethical standards.
