Having difficulty in getting the pictures in your “/home/you/Pictures” to work as a screen saver - this might help - discovered the information at - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/772079.html
Have copied japplex directions below (I much appreciate his efforts) -
I have finally worked out how to do this (maybe 4 months late for simo). I believe it is a new ‘feature’ of Gutsy (7.10)
HOW TO:
Open up the .config folder in your home directory
Open for edit the file user-dirs.dirs (you could back up this file just in case)
change the line XDG_PICTURES_DIR= to the location of your pictures.
eg: XDG_PICTURES_DIR=”/home/A_Location /MyCameraPhotosLiveHere”
Save the file
Select Pictures Folder in the screensaver preferences selection list
Test and all should be working.

I have been using 7.10 for about 2 weeks now, with the release of RC version. I must say that I have found it a significant jump from 7.04 - I am not a linux user, but I decided about a year ago to convert my computer to linux.
7.10 offers a considerable lot more than 7.04 did from my perspective as a desktop user, yep there is still a bit of command line editing from time to time, but that gives me the feeling that it’s my system.
